All of our auctions are conducted at an appropriate physical location relative to the property being auctioned. Prospective buyers arrive on-site, register for bidding, and actively participate in the live auction.
However, many of our auctions also have an Internet presence. By providing our sellers with more potential buyers than any other venue, our internet auctions greatly enhance the ability to receive the best selling prices on most, if not all, items in the auction. Buyers benefit from the ability to learn more about individual items before an auction, and buyers also benefit from the ability to bid online when they can not be physically present at an auction.
Online Bidding: Most consignment auctions held at our Aspen Auction Center in Petersburg have an on-line bidding (OB) component through our partner Auctionflex.com. If you can't attend the physical auction, you can still leave an online auction bid for the item that you are interested in. Please note that there is a "cut-off" time set at midnight before the day of the auction for online Auction Center bidding, and you will not be able to increase your maximum bid for consignment items on a "real-time" basis. The opening bid for an item is determined by the live auction participants; you may get the item for less than your maximum bid, or you may be outbid. Our online bidding site is also a very useful tool for live "on-site" bidders; you can search for auction items with keywords, and also view lot lists which will contain many more item photos than our "Featured Items" slideshows. Real-Time Online Bidding: Real Estate auctions may also be conducted with real-time on-line bidding (RTOB) through our web partner, Proxibid. Potential buyers can “see” what is being offered at the sale via pictures, live video, and/or live audio on the Internet, and may bid on those items just as if they were physically present at the auction site. Auctions using "Real-Time Online Bidding" (RTOB) will be clearly marked on applicable web pages for each individual auction.
If a potential buyer is interested in a Real Estate auction conducted on-line in real-time, but does not have internet available (say at a child’s ball game), they can still bid on that property, live and in real-time, via telephone proxy. To utilize this service, a potential buyer must call Aspen Auction Company prior to the sale, tell us the auction item number(s), and give us some information and the authority to act as their proxy. When that item is up for bid, our agents call the buyer and act as the buyer’s proxy, just as if the buyers were physically on-site themselves.
Remember: check our auction calendar and/or individual auction listings for auctions that include either type of online presence! |
